Sensory overload out on the street often leads to nothing much being done there as well. What can you do about that, post a "post it note" on your forehead reminding you to pay more attention to what's going on, if only to appear more humane when it's supposedly appropriate? I don't think so. I think...best just to look after your own interests...nobody does it quite so well.
